The summer congress has officially started

Lieutenant Colonel Willem J. Veerheijen, president of CIOR, declared the summer congress open

The president of CIOR led the opening of the general council at the congress hall, where all the participants met. The lieutenant colonel also held a short speech at the official welcoming ceremony at the city square in Stavanger.



- The reservists are important to NATO, and NATO is important to our stability and peace, said Veerheijen.
The president of NROF, brigader Sigurd Hellstrøm, told the large audience that had turned up to see the opening ceremony at the city square in Stavanger that NROF had mobilized lots of volunteers that had worked for the preparation of the event.

NROF is responsible for preparing the congress on behalf of the Norwegian Chief of Defense.
- It’s a pleasure to welcome you to the 63rd CIOR summer congress. The goal of this congress is to demonstrate the relevance of this organization in a changing world. This is an organization for the future, said Hellstrøm.



The mayor in Stavanger, Leif Johan Sevland, pointed out that the reserve officers are important to maintain peace and stability.

- Peace has a prize. I want to thank you for your efforts in working for peace, said the mayor.
His majesty the King’s Guard participated with hoisting the flags and played music at the solemn ceremony.
